James A. Riddle, 74, of West Pittston, passed away Saturday at home surrounded by his loving family. He was married to the former Ellen Kirkpatrick. The couple celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary.
Born August 8, 1944, in Johnstown, he was the son of the late Charles and Bernice Wiley Riddle. Prior to retirement, he was employed at Golden Technologies, Inc., Old Forge, and was previously employed by Bethlehem Steel, in Johnstown. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, West Pittston, the Valley Masonic Lodge #499, the Emanon Golf Club, and a life member of the Ferndale Fire Company where he served as Ferndale Fire Chief for twelve years. Jim was also a proud veteran of the Army National Guard.
Surviving in addition to his wife Ellen are two daughters, Tracey Scialpi and companion Jim Kelly, Harding, Kellie Thirkell and husband John, Parkland, FL.; a son, Michael, West Pittston; seven grandchildren; Courtney, Samantha, Elizabeth, and Antonio “AJ” Scialpi, Jason and Brianna Thirkell, Sofia Riddle; two great-grandchildren; Julianna and Louie Ciuccio; a brother, Larry Riddle and wife Patty, Johnstown, three sisters, Deborah Lichtenfels and husband Gary, Johnstown; Joyce Anderson and husband David, Margaret Soukup, Indiana, PA.; a sister in-law, Linda Riddle, Johnstown; sister-in-law, Colleen Nisewonger and husband, Kenneth, Virginia; nieces, and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Riddle, and a brother in-law, David Soukup.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday at 10:00 in the Louis V. Ciuccio Funeral Home, 145 Moosic Road, Old Forge. to be celebrated by the Rev. Tenny Hutchinson Rupnick, Pastor, First United Methodist Church, West Pittston. Interment Mountain View Cemetery, Harding Military honors will be provided by the AMVETS Honor Guard.
Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Louis V. Ciuccio Funeral Home on Tuesday evening at 5:00 – 8:00 p.m.
