Obituary of Joan M. DiGiovine
Joan M. DiGiovine, 80, of Old Forge passed away early Saturday morning at Allied Hospice Center, Scranton surrounded by family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick F. DiGiovine, who died January 30, 1980 and longtime companion, Stephen M. Kurimchak Jr.
Born in Port Blanchard, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Anna Zarembgaw Kozden. She was a member of Prince of Peace Parish, Old Forge. She graduated from Jenkins Township High School.
Joan retired from Topps Co. in Duryea, where she worked for 28 years.
She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and spending time with her great-granddaughters, Abigail and Olivia, who brought her great joy. Passing away peacefully, Joan will be always loved and forever remembered.
She is survived by a daughter, Cindy Mickavicz and husband, Louis, Taylor; son, David DiGiovine and wife, Michele, Georgia; four grandchildren, Louis and Michelle Mickavicz and David and Nicholas DiGiovine; three brothers, Andrew Kozden, Allentown; Edward Kozden, Kingston; and Thomas Kozden, New York City; nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Patrick; brother, Frank Kozden; and four sisters, Pauline DeMark, Nellie Zoflo, and Mary and Rose Kozden.
The family would like to thank Dr. Glen Digwood and the Allied Hospice staff for their support and compassion given to Joan and her loved ones.
Family and friends may call Wednesday from 8:30-9:30 a.m. at the Louis V. Ciuccio Funeral Home, 145 Moosic Rd., Old Forge with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in Prince of Peace Parish, 123 W. Grace St., Old Forge.
Interment will follow in Old Forge Cemetery, Old Forge.
