Words cannot describe the shock of learning about Lenny's death. He was a guy that to me was bigger than life.We just commented on FB it seems like yesterday.
I had known Doreen n her family for a long time. We met Lenny many years ago when Doreen n he were dating. Since then Ann Marie n I were a part of their lives together. We did not always spend as much time as we would have liked, but when we did, our friendship picked up where it had left off. Joined forces at many political events n celebrated victories and many happy times around the kitchen table.
I guess my fondest memory of dear Lenny, was when he told me he would come to the hospital to sit with me when Ann Marie had surgery. I told him I would be okay, but that was not his plan. There he was early in the morning at the keeping me company waiting till the doctor came n told us all went well. It really meant so much to have him there n not have to be alone. I will always think of him with the deepest gratitude for the kindness he shared , not that day, but always.
Although I cannot be there to say goodbye, just like nearly a year ago when we lost Doreen, but know you are in my thoughts & prayers that you are in the arms of God & with your loved ones. I know these past months have been tough on you physically n mentally. Many times you would call n cry out in pain n sorrow, but, my friend that is over, Rest In Peace. CAIO
