Hard to believe -- what a tremendous loss, and far too soon at that. Dr. Nourian was a great asset to and beloved pillar of our entire community for many decades. He was an accomplished and community-minded person who helped many people, and who served as a role model for all our children. Dr. Nourian had such a generous spirit; his love for spending time with friends and family was obvious. We cherish our many memories with him over the years and will always remember him smiling and laughing among friends. Cheers to the marvelous and accomplished life he lived. -- The Hosseini Family

To the Nourian Family: Our families have known each other for over 30 years. Obviously, we feel like we lost one of our best friends. We miss his jokes, his kindness, his wisdom, his presence, and his calm. He truly showed kindness to all his friends. We know that he is having a great time planting a beautiful garden with no groundhogs in heaven. May he always rest in peace. Tabatabaie Family.

In the Garden
I come to the garden alone,
While the dew is still on the roses,
And the voice I hear falling on my ear,
The Son of God discloses...
And He walks with me, and He talks with me,
And He tells me I am His own,
And the joy we share as we tarry there,
None other, has ever, known!
He speaks and the sound of His voice,
Is so sweet the birds hush their singing,
And the melody that he gave to me,
Within my heart is ringing . . .
And He walks with me, and He talks with me,
And He tells me I am His own,
And the joy we share as we tarry there,
None other, has ever, known!
And the joy we share as we tarry there,
None other, has ever, known!

Dear Homa and family,
I am so saddened to hear of the loss of Ali and pass along my deepest condolences to you and the family. Living next door to you in Moscow was an honor and my memory of you both is that you were the warmest, nicest neighbors we have ever had. My first introduction to Ali says it all as to the generosity of the man. I had only been living at 214 Jennifer for a couple of months when on my way to work driving my van in a snowstorm, I slid into a drainage ditch at the bottom of our street. I was stuck in several inches of snow and began trying to shovel myself out of what seemed to be hopeless attempt to make it to work and salvage my job. Within a couple of minutes I heard the crunching footsteps of someone approaching with a shovel. It was Ali. We introduced ourselves and he began shoveling and within a few minutes I got free and made it to work. Needless to say I never forgot the kindness and generosity he displayed on that day and all the days that followed as your neighbors. God bless you and your family during this sad time.
Sincerely,
Bill Lombardi

At Buba’s request, I am also sharing this here for my sweet Homa Khanoom to see <3
How do you say goodbye to someone who has watched you grow up and loved you so much? Today, I found out my uncle (I say uncle because even though we didn’t share blood, he was a brother to a father, and closer to me than some of my very own) passed away.
Agha Nourian was one of the most sweet, kind, and generous men I’ve ever had the honor of having in my life.
It was not uncommon for me to come home from a party, or for a visit to Maman and Buba’s after l had moved out, to find him and Homa Khanoom at our house. Usually, he was playing backgammon with my Buba and kicking Buba’s butt at that :). It became an inside joke that when Brendan and I were heading home for a visit, it just wasn’t right to not have him and Homa Khanoom there waiting for us- even if it was a surprise visit to Maman and Buba.
I will miss seeing him at the table having chai with my parents. I will miss hearing his very distinguishable voice and laugh. Most of all, I will miss hugging a man I love as dearly as my own father. I’m devastated for this loss and send all my love to our whole IACA family who I know feel the same as me. <3

Dear Homa and family, Charlie and I are so sorry for your great loss. We always fondly remember both of you when we were lucky to have been next door neighbors in Moscow. Ali was a true gentleman. He was one of the kindest men I’ve ever known. Ali gave excellent gardening advice, was always ready with a smile and helping hand. His vegetables and flowers were an amazing sight. Homa, you and Ali were the first, and among the finest, people we have met in our many years in Moscow. One of my memories of Ali’s many kindnesses was when he insisted Charlie use his chipper to handle the trees from clearing our property, and then he not only helped him with the task, he insisted we use the mulch for ourselves. Another was when he saw Charlie struggling with the posts for our deck he was building and immediately came over to help. That was the kind of person Ali was, always at the ready. I still have beautiful irises grown from tubers he shared. I think of him every time they bloom. -Marianne Morgan, Jennifer Street

Homa, I am very sorry for your loss. I had the pleasure of working with your caring husband at SCC. I was there with nursing students from Wilkes University and U of S for their psychiatric clinical rotation. He was very kind and welcoming to my students and shared in the love of teaching with them. I then was able to spend more time with him at the Friendship home where I had the pleasure to work with him while furthering my education. He was a gift to all who had the pleasure and good will to know him and be treated by him!
thank you for sharing him with others so that we may gain knowledge in his passion for patients.

Dearest Daie Joon, thank you for being such a loving and compassionate figure in our lives. All the memories we have created from our trips to Pennsylvania, New York, and in California will be forever cherished. One of my favorite memories with you was when I four and was eating pasta and shrimp and saved my favorite part, the shrimp, for last and you were teasing me that you’d eat it before me. You told me to enjoy the things that I enjoy in life. Ryan will always remember the many games of backgammon you played together and how you approached everything with patience and love. We will miss you so much but are forever grateful to have spent so much time with you. Love you endlessly. Atrin and Ryan

I am not sure where to begin. Ali(Parviz) never missed any family events. He loved his life and his family.
He was always visiting us wherever we lived. He loved to travel the world and he basically ran out of places to go! A very inspirational person to me, the first memory I have of him is when I was ten years old and we spent a lot of quality time in Germany with Uncle Iraj - all the good memories started from there. I will always treasure the times we had and the great memories that were made. I will definitely miss him!
