Obituary of Denise M. Nemetz
Denise M. Nemetz, 60, of Old Forge, died Saturday at Allied Services Hospice Center, Scranton after a 4 month battle with lung cancer. She is survived by her beloved husband, Raymond D. Nemetz. The couple celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary on October 1st.
Born in Old Forge, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Annette (Ciuccio) Lia and step daughter of Ronald T. Davis. Denise was a graduate of Old Forge High School's Class of 1978. For most of her adult years, she worked in human resources at Nabisco/Kraft but was recently employed as a receptionist at Physicians' Health Alliance, Old Forge.
Denise was an amazing person; loving, genuine, kind, thoughtful, compassionate, strong and beautiful. Her laugh was infectious. Anyone who knew her, knew of "the snort". She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Her three children were her pride and joy. She loved singing, dancing and country music. Almost every weekend you could find her enjoying a night out watching her husband perform. Her favorite past times included golf, bowling, scrapbooking and girls trips to Atlantic City.
She is also survived by her son, Ian Nemetz of Philadelphia; two daughters, Taylor Nemetz of Boca Raton, FL, Leah and husband Christopher Oustrich of Taylor; three grandchildren, Blair, Callie, and Archer Oustrich of Taylor; two brothers, Frank Lia and wife Joann of Old Forge, Mark Lia and wife Pam of Old Forge; three sisters, Annette Chickey, Rachelle Berta, both of Old Forge and Teri Valvano and husband Jim of Boston, MA; Goddaughter Stephanie Lia of Old Forge; 4 nieces, 5 nephews, 3 great nieces and 1 great nephew.
Denise's family wishes to thank Dr. Armando Sallavanti, Dr. Kathryn Sallavanti and the staff at Allied Hospice Center for the care given to Denise.
Due to the health and safety issues caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, Denise's family plans to hold a future memorial tribute in her honor. The celebration of Denise's life will be held at a date to be announced. There will be no viewing.
