Obituary of Gary J. Strein
Gary Justin Strein, 49, of Old Forge, died suddenly at home on Saturday.
Born February 5, 1972, in Old Forge, he was the son of Margaret “Marg” Strein. Gary attended Old Forge High School and was a 1991 graduate of the ICS Newport – Pacific High School in Scranton. He also attended Lackawanna College. He resided in Portland, ME for 12 years and returned to Old Forge in 2017. He then worked for several years as a supervisor at Pride Gourmet, Stauffer Industrial Park, Taylor. Gary was a member of the Prince of Peace Parish, Old Forge.
Gary enjoyed many sports such as skiing in Vermont, Maine, and Montage Mountain and riding his ATV with friends. He was an avid amateur chef. He enjoyed preparing healthy meals for family members and himself. Gary was a hard worker, a kindred spirit, generous, and kind, but most of all he was a devoted son. He will be missed forever.
Gary is survived by his beloved mother, Marg, his maternal aunt, Mary Ellen Stacchiotti, both of Old Forge, and first and second cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Linda and Robert Strein, and his uncle and godfather, Paul Stacchiotti.
The funeral will be Saturday at 9:30 a.m. from the Louis V. Ciuccio Funeral Home, 145 Moosic Road, Old Forge, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated by the Rev. August Riccciardi, Pastor, at the Prince of Peace Parish, 123 West Grace Street, Old Forge. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Saturday morning from 8:00 – 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
