Obituary of Marie Rakauskas
Marie Rakauskas, 83, a lifelong resident of Old Forge, died Friday at Regional Hospital. She was the widow of the late Dr. William V. Rakauskas who died on September 11, 2004.
Born in Old Forge, she was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Anna Malish Ermolovich. She was a graduate of the Old Forge High School’s Class of 1951. She was formerly employed by Capitol Records. Marie was a member of St. Michael’s Russian Orthodox Church, Old Forge.
Marie was a strong and loving mother and grandmother who was actively involved in the lives of her family, most notably her grandchildren.
Surviving are three sons, Dr. William Rakauskas and wife Dr. Joyce Burnside, Bloomsburg, Mark Rakauskas, Erie, and Matthew Rakauskas and wife Attorney Marisa Rinaldi Rakauskas, Dalton, six grandchildren, Brian, Nicholas, and Adrianna Rakauskas, Jill Otto-Smith, Matthew and Maribella Rakauskas, a sister, Olga Steffen and husband Dom, Hughestown, a brother, Walter Ermolovich and wife Ann Marie, Old Forge, and several nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded by a brother, Nicholas Ermolovich.
A private funeral service will be held. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Louis V. Ciuccio Funeral Home, 145 Moosic Road, Old Forge.
