Obituary of Gerald "Jerry" Uhrin

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Gerald “Jerry” Uhrin, 83, on August 26, 2023. He passed peacefully at his home, surrounded by loved ones.

His wife of 61 years, Jacqueline Aulisio Uhrin, preceded him in death on January 17^th, 2023.

Born July 16, 1940 in Old Forge, he was the son of the late John and Margaret Stefanko Uhrin. He was educated in the Old Forge School District.

Jerry proudly served in the United States Army and Army Reserve.

He displayed the same strong work ethic he instilled in each of his children and grandchildren as he was employed with the Pennsylvania Gas & Water Company for 45 years, where he worked very hard to ensure his family never went without.

Jerry enjoyed watching Penn State football and was a big fan of Old Forge High School football, especially the years his grandsons played. He also had very special friendships with each of his granddaughters and enjoyed their company. When each grandchild reached that certain age, they knew it was time to run to Grandpa to start their driving lessons, which he proudly provided with a level of love, patience, and kindness only a grandfather could give.

Jerry is survived by four sons; Jerry and wife Connie, Dominick and wife Tammy, Mark and wife Allison, all of Old Forge, Michael and wife Christine, Avoca, two daughters; Shirley Vender and husband Louis, Jacqueline Evans, all of Old Forge, eleven grandchildren; Kristen, Brad (Taryn), Corey and Zachary, Dominick (Marina), Gabrielle (Mario), Klaus (Julie), Jackson, Breah, Kayla (Jared), Shana (Brandon), and a great- granddaughter, Maisyn. He is also survived by a brother, Teddy and wife Diane Uhrin, a sister, Marlene DiSimoni, nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by brothers John and David Uhrin, sisters Edna Lamberti, Elaine Marcos, and an infant twin Geraldine as well as a son-in-law John Evans.

The family would like to thank Dr. Ken Sebastianelli for the wonderful care and compassion that was given to Jerry and his wife over the years and Allied Hospice, especially his nurse, Anne.

Jerry filled so many lives with unconditional love, life lessons, an abundance of memories and plenty of hours of laughter that his family will carry with them all throughout their lives. He will be deeply missed by all.
