Obituary of Vincent J. Peperno
Vincent J. Peperno, 81, of Old Forge, died Monday at the Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton. He was married to the former Marion Navich. The couple celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary on Dec. 31, 2013.
Born in Old Forge, he was the son of the late Anthony and Antoinette Casella Peperno. He was a graduate of Old Forge High School's class of 1951. He was a graduate of East Stroudsburg University and earned a master's degree from the University of Scranton. Prior to his retirement, he was a social studies and economics teacher at Western Wayne High School, Waymart. He was a member of the Pennsylvania Association of Retired Teachers. He was a United States Army veteran and a member of the Prince of Peace Parish, Old Forge.
One of Vincent's greatest joys in life was spending time with his beloved granddaughter, Skyy Izabella. He enjoyed daily walks around Lake Scranton and gardening.
Also surviving are a son, Vincent Jr. and wife, JoEllen; a daughter, Susan Coccia and husband, Patrick; a daughter, Lisa Peperno; a son, Frank Peperno; daughter-in-law, Salli Ann Graham Peperno; a granddaughter, Skyy Izabella; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Rocco, Anthony, Joseph, Frank; and three sisters, Angie Schobert, Margaret Gabello and Marie Peperno.
The funeral will be Thursday at 9:30 a.m. from the Louis V. Ciuccio Funeral Home, 145 Moosic Road, Old Forge, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass at the Prince of Peace Parish - St. Mary's Church, 123 West Grace Street, Old Forge. Interment, Old Forge Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call Wednesday, 5 - 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Griffin Pond Animal Shelter of Lackawanna County.
