Obituary of Marie F. Gromada
Marie F. Gromada, 83, of Avoca, died Monday at Riverside Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Taylor. She was the wife of Frank Gromada. The couple celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary on June 30.
Born in Old Forge, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Antoinette Corona Schiavo. She was a 1947 graduate of Old Forge High School and the Madame Fenwick Beauty School, Scranton. Before retirement, she owned and operated the former Marie's Beauty Shop, Avoca, and was employed at the International Correspondence Schools, Scranton. She was a member and a former president of the Felittesse Association and a member of Prince of Peace Parish, Old Forge.
Marie was a loving wife and mother who was well liked by everyone who knew her. She always possessed an appreciation and love for animals.
Also surviving are a son, David and wife, Phyllis, Avoca; a brother, Robert Schiavo and wife, Connie, Old Forge; a sister, Miralda Kozol, Syracuse, N.Y.; nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Raymond, Arthur and Thomas Schiavo; and two sisters, Helen Pagnotti and Agnes J. Nicolosi.
The funeral will be Thursday at 9:30 a.m. from the Louis V. Ciuccio Funeral Home, 145 Moosic Road, Old Forge, followed by Mass at 10 at Prince of Peace Parish, St. Mary's Church, West Grace Street, Old Forge.
